An economic sector of activity with as great an impact as tourism, in particular business tourism, since it is a major consumer of wood and wood-based products (for example to produce and fit out stands) must be made aware of the environmental disruption to which it is contributing due to its consumption habits.
This is the reason why the Principality of Monaco’s Tourist Office and Convention Authority (DTC) and the Grimaldi Forum of Monaco (GF) have decided to support the initiative “Monaco makes a commitment against deforestation” conducted by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the association MC2D.
By joining in this partnership, the DTC and the GF intend to promote and publicise the action to combat deforestation initiated and developed by the Prince Albert II of Monaco through their website and publications such as the GF MAG, an e-magazine created to communicate about the actions related to sustainable development in the Principality.
The Principality’s “Heritage Trees Walking Path” is another key project of the initiative “All together against deforestation” and creates a parallel with international projects supported by the Foundation. The “Heritage Trees Walking Path” is a touristic and educational tour created conjointly with the Monaco Tourist Office and the Urban Planning Management Department.
Lastly, each year, the Prince Albert II of Monaco’s Foundation and the Grimaldi Forum take part in the Monacology week and invite children to reflect upon environmental issues through recreational workshops.
