The Principality of Monaco and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation sign a partnership agreement with the Nanyang Technological University - Singapore to develop and implement urban sustainability solutions - 09/11/2018

On Friday 9 November, 2018, in the presence of HSH the Sovereign Prince, HE Bernard Fautrier, Plenipotentiary Minister, Vice-President Chief Executive Officer of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Mr Frédéric Genta, Country Chief Digital Officer of the Principality of Monaco, and Professor Subodh Mhaisalkar, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore’s (NTU Singapore) Associate Vice President (Strategy & Partnerships) and Executive Director of NTU’s Energy Research Institute, have joined forces to develop innovative solutions in the fields of autonomous vehicles, energy efficiency, and eco-city designs.

The tripartite partnership will address urban sustainability challenges in both Singapore and in Monaco, including supporting The Principality’s bold vision to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, accompanied by the Monegasque delegation, visited NTU’s campus and observed a demonstration of autonomous vehicle testing at the CETRAN test centre, which is operated by NTU scientists. The partnership with NTU will provide a platform for the three parties to explore the use of autonomous vehicles in dense traffic conditions.

Based on the synergy of interests and activities, the Principality of Monaco, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and NTU will also explore low-energy building solutions, eco-campuses, and eco-city designs and implementation. Echoing the same sustainability objectives, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation actively combats climate change by supporting numerous projects in the field of clean and renewable energy.

The tripartite agreement also solidifies bilateral ties between Monaco and Singapore, and will serve as a common platform for both countries to jointly develop and implement autonomous vehicles in dense urban environments.
