Monacobiodiv’s goal is to assess, within the Principality of Monaco, the parameters that govern and gauge the state of Monegasque biodiversity in an effort to contribute towards the conservation and sustainable management of its species and habitats. The sustainable of biodiversity hinges on the joint results of scientific research, conservation and awareness. This first observatory for Mediterranean coastal biodiversity will act as a pilot site for the conservation, awareness and management of other highly urbanized coastal sites in the Mediterranean region.
The goal is to manage priority conservation areas, to explore the current biodiversity patterns of various taxonomic groups, to measure the impact of various threats on species of interest from a heritage point of view, to raise the awareness of all local players on Monegasque biodiversity and to identify the main priority areas for biodiversity and conservation.
