Inventory of the Indian Ocean's biodiversity

The aim of the project is to build awareness of the biodiversity in the South West Indian Ocean, placing particular focus on lesser known species (invertebrates and plants) and on the terrestrial and marine ecosystems that have not yet been studied.

The project is focusing its research on "neglected" biodiversity, which represents close to 95% of all global biodiversity and plays a key role in the overall balance of the ecosystem.

Therefore, the project consists of an inventory of a series of sites, both on and offshore, which will be identified and classified depending on the type of habitat (fauna/flora/vegetation).
