The Ocean Solutions Initiative supports the protection of the oceans. To this end it has drawn up a comprehensive list of solutions aimed at mitigating the impact of climate change and ocean acidification.
The objective of this project is to evaluate the implementation conditions of these solutions and their potential consequences (some, like solar radiation management, can prove harmful to the oceans) so as to retain only the most apposite.
The retained solutions, divided into four categories (mitigation, protection, adaptation and repair), together with their implementation procedures, are shared via various platforms (reporting back to conferences on work carried out, publication of scientific articles etc.).
The results will be of benefit chiefly to scientists and negotiators during climate conferences. Each solution presented includes its objectives, feasibility, effectiveness, risks and financial cost.
