In June 2006, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco decided to establish his Foundation to address the alarming environmental situation of our planet. The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation undertakes action to protect the environment worldwide, in the fields of climate change, loss of biodiversity and water management.
The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is extending its message and its mission on an international level, with the establishment of its Italian branch. The Foundation now has 10 representations in the world: France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Spain, the United States, Canada, Singapore and China.
H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, H.E. Mr Bernard Fautrier, Vice President and CEO of the Foundation presided over the opening of the Italian branch on 15th October 2009 in the presence of its administrators. This new branch of the Foundation will lend support to projects and develop initiatives conducted by various organisations working on environmental issues in Italy. It will constitute an additional driving force for the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
The official announcement for the opening of the Italian branch of the Prince Albert II Foundation was made during the opening of the exhibition "The Grace Kelly Years, Princess of Monaco". On the instigation of the Memmo Foundation, in the magnificent setting of the Ruspoli Palace located just a few steps away from the Spanish Square in the heart of the Italian capital, H.S.H. Prince Albert II officially opened the exhibition in the presence of many Monegasque and Italian personalities including Gianni Letta, Deputy Secretary to the Italian Council and Gianni Alemanno, the Mayor of Rome.
