The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is a proud partner of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival for the Prince Rainier III Special Prize, which honours an outstanding documentary addressing key environmental challenges.

Established at the request of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, in honour to His father, Prince Rainier III, founder of the Festival, this Prize reflects the Sovereign’s commitment to raising awareness of ecological issues through the power of storytelling. The official selection is curated by the Foundation, and the winner is personally chosen by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Honorary President of the Festival.

On June 17, 2025, during the Golden Nymph Awards Ceremony, the Prize was awarded to Rewilding Sharks, directed by Melissa Godin and produced by Clément Gargoullaud (Kraken Films).

This moving film tells the story of Nesha Ichida, an Indonesian marine biologist leading a mission to reintroduce leopard sharks in the waters of Raja Ampat, threatened by commercial fishing. Blending science, community engagement and a profound connection between humans and wildlife, the documentary offers a powerful reflection on ecological restoration.

The trophy was presented by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and H.S.H. Princess Charlene, in the presence of the laureates. The Prize includes a €10,000 grant.
