Annual Report 2023

In 2023, the French branch welcomed a new President, Thomas Grenon, following in the footsteps of HE Christophe Steiner. The branch renewed its support for the biodiversity preservation project led by Port Cros National Park (at Hyères in the Var) with a total funding commitment of five years, from 2021 to 2026. The Foundation has committed to fund the scheme over five years, from 2021 to 2026. This ambitious project aims to improve knowledge of the terrestrial biodiversity in both the peripheral partnership zone and the central protection area, so as to determine the conservation priorities.

Another partnership was renewed for five years to continue supporting Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed), which is working to combat plastic pollution in the Mediterranean. Finally, the French branch also supported two new projects, one focused on the soundscape of the gorgonian forests in the Mediterranean, and the other on preserving and restoring coastal vegetation in Cameroon.
