HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco visited São Paulo, Brazil, on November 7 to inaugurate the Latin America branch of His Foundation, chaired by Mr. Arnoldo Wald, Honorary Consul of Monaco in Brazil.
On the afternoon of November 7, the Sovereign Prince took part in an event held at the Armando Alvarez Penteado Foundation (FAAP) entitled “Building Tomorrow, Together”. The gathering brought together students of art, economics, and law, as well as young entrepreneurs who came to present their sustainable ventures and projects.
In the presence of Dr. Antonio Bias Bueno Guillon, President and Executive Director of FAAP, Mr. Luis Sobral, CEO of FAAP, and members of the Latin America branch of the Foundation, the discussions open with introduction remarks from Mrs. Celita Procopio de Carvalho, Chairwoman of the FAAP Board of Trustees.
Mr. Federico Perez, member of the development committee of the Latin America branch of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, former Re.Generation first cohort member and entrepreneur, delivered an inspiring speech, stressing that “As we meet today, the world is watching our region closely. Next week, COP30 will begin in Belém — in the very heart of the Amazon. Latin America will showcase resilience, innovation, and the power of youth leadership. The Amazon itself is a planetary treasure — it is a legacy for all humanity.”
Introducing the entrepreneurs sequence Federico then emphasised that “Our today entrepreneurs represent a generation that “refuses to accept climate inaction,” bringing the creativity and determination our time demands. In storytelling and innovation, as experts remind us, we must “build entrepreneurship capacities and ensure spaces for innovation.”
Ten entrepreneurs had the opportunity to present their innovative solutions, offering concrete responses to major environmental challenges such as ecological forest restoration (Morfo), biodiversity conservation (Amazon Research International), access to safe drinking water and the preservation of water resources (Aguacamelo – SDW for all - Piipee), sustainable food systems and the fight against food waste (MicroTERRA – Nanofreeze), sustainable textile fibres (Phycolabs), advocacy for climate justice and the rights of Indigenous communities (Yanuni), as well as territorial adaptation and resilience (RegeneraRS).
Two undergraduate students from FAAP introduced some of the Institution’s key entrepreneurship programs sharing their passion and commitment.
HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco concluded the event
by recalling the profound transformation our world is undergoing — from an ecological,
social, economic, and technological standpoint. While these changes compel us
to rethink our models and the ways we produce, consume, and live together, the
Sovereign underscored the major role that new generations have to play, before
stressing that: “Sustainable
innovation is no longer a choice. It is a necessity. It is the key to build
resilient economies, capable of facing crises while respecting the boundaries
of our planet. It is also a powerful force for shaping fairer societies, where every
voice counts and every community matters. It is the foundation of tomorrow’s
prosperity."
This event fully aligns with the missions of the
Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation: supporting sustainable innovation,
empowering young leaders - notably through its Re.Generation program - and raising
awareness of today’s key global challenges.
