Press release

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation unveils the programme for the fourth edition of the Green Shift Festival, which will take place from 9 to 11 April 2026 at the Yacht Club de Monaco, in the Meeting Room located on Quai Louis II.

For this new edition, the event will unfold in a new setting and expand its programme while maintaining its core ambition: to nurture the imagination and create opportunities for dialogue that support the transition towards a more sustainable world.

A free, open-to-the-public event, the festival is part of the Green Shift Initiative, launched by the Foundation in 2023 to mobilise collective imagination and encourage desirable ecological transition pathways. Through a mix of talks, performances, discussions, workshops and convivial moments, the programme highlights a variety of forms of engagement that are accessible to all.

Romain Ciarlet, Vice-President & CEO of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, emphasises: “The Green Shift Festival is an invitation to imagine desirable futures. By bringing together the perspectives of artists, researchers, athletes and frontline actors, it opens spaces for dialogue and emotion that help us transform our relationship with the living world and build positive transitions.”

The 2026 programme will be centred around three topic-oriented evenings:

· From Storytelling to Action – Rewriting our collective narrative (Thursday 9 April): Hosted by historian and futurist Mathieu Baudin, this discussion will explore how narratives shape our visions of the future and can become powerful drivers of change. It will bring together Stéphane La Branche, climate sociologist, and Jeanne Hénin, writer and facilitator of workshops exploring the power of language.

· Our Territories Tomorrow – Rethinking how we inhabit cities and the world (Friday 10 April – bilingual evening): A conversation hosted by journalist Nancy Heslin, featuring Rob Hopkins, founder of the International Transition Towns movement, and Jacques Rougerie, visionary architect and explorer specialising in marine and underwater habitats.

· Committed Athletes – Inspiring stories to change the rules of the game (Saturday 11 April): This evening will give the floor to athletes committed to protecting the planet — Flora Artzner (wingfoil), Julie Gautier (freediving and underwater dance), Nolwen Berthier (climbing), Younès Nezar (athletics), Arthur Le Vaillant (sailing) and Yannis Pelé (mountain biking) — gathered around Nancy Heslin to share their journeys and commitments. Closing remarks will be presented by Sebastian Steudtner, big wave surf champion.

Alongside the evening panels, visitors will be able to take part in a wide range of activities open to all: wellness sessions (qigong, yoga, sound healing), “Happy Hours to get involved” highlighting local ecological initiatives, a literary discussion around three books, creative writing workshops, family activities, and a bicycle repair area with Munegu Repair Biçiclëta.

Several exhibition spaces will accompany the three-day event. Within the festival area, visitors will discover extracts from the poetic dictionary “Les mots qu’il nous faut” by Jeanne Hénin, drawings by architect Jacques Rougerie, and photographs from Yannis Pelé’s “World Tour” project. On the quay of the Yacht Club de Monaco, a selection of projects from the Jacques Rougerie Foundation’s International Innovation and Architecture Competition will be presented, while the “Healing Flags” collective installation will be displayed on the Lucciana jetty, created by the Aleksandr Savchuk Cancer Charity.

The festival will also host sessions dedicated to ecological transition, including two Culture Fresk workshops (“Fresque de la Culture”) offered to cultural institutions of the Principality and a conference for administrators of these organisations, led by Laurence Ghestem, founder and director of Culture Demain. Educational activities for schools will also be organised, including a writing workshop with Jeanne Hénin, a Climate Workout led by Younès Nezar, a masterclass by Rob Hopkins and a discussion with Jacques Rougerie.

The event will conclude with a concert by Bobbie, singer, songwriter and folk-americana guitarist.

The Green Shift Festival is organised by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, with the support of the SMEG group, the Department of Cultural Affairs, MTB Recycling and the Columbus Monte-Carlo, in collaboration with its institutional, cultural and media partners: the City of Monaco, the Yacht Club de Monaco, the Institut des Futurs Souhaitables, the Kate Powers Foundation, the Jacques Rougerie Foundation, the Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco, the Aleksandr Savchuk Cancer Charity and Actes Sud.
