Monaco Yacht Show 2012

Monaco

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation developed the Wood Forever Pact in order to steer shipbuilding companies towards the use of wood harvested from sustainably managed forests.

The Monaco Yacht Show has supported the Foundation for over three years, and the organisers, Gaëlle Tallarida and Peter Rigby, have handed over a cheque for 42,000 Euros to HSH the Prince Albert II of Monaco and the CEO of the Foundation HE Mr Bernard Fautrier, in support of this programme.

During his visit to the Monaco Yacht Show on 19th September, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco welcomed Viareggio Superyachts as the first European member to join the Wood Forever Pact. Viareggio Superyachts has agreed to analyse its supply chain in order to develop a sustainable timber procurement policy, and in so doing, to combat deforestation.

The Foundation hopes that other shipbuilders will follow this example in order to lead the yachting industry towards environmental excellence.
