Third Edition of Monaco Blue Initiative to be led by

H.S.H. Prince Albert II in Yeosu

(Yeosu, Korea) The Monaco Blue Initiative, co-organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Oceanographic Institute, Foundation Albert I, Prince of Monaco, will be held at the EXPO Hall at EXPO 2012 Yeosu Korea on June 4.

 

Created under the aegis of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Monaco Blue Initiative (MBI) is a think tank which brings together political, economic, scientific and associated actors sharing a common commitment for the sustainable management and the preservation of the oceans.

 

In line with the Yeosu Expo’s theme of “The Living Ocean and Coast,” the third edition of the MBI will focus on the integrated management of marine areas, with prominent attendees from over 20 countries. Jacques Perrin, who is an ambassador of EXPO 2012 Yeosu and director of the documentary “Oceans,” will also be on hand to screen his film.

 

The event will open with the official introductions of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and Joo Sung-ho, Korean Vice-Minister of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs, and features presentations by President Anote Tong of Kiribati and President Johnson Toribong of Palau, among others. Discussions will center around best practices and new perspectives of international cooperation for the sustainable management of the oceans, especially highlighting the Asia-Pacific region.

 

On June 3, H.S.H. Prince Albert II and H.S.H. Princess Charlène will visit the Monaco Pavilion at the Expo and host a reception to celebrate the National Day of Monaco.

 

The Monaco Pavilion illustrates the historical commitment of the principality of Monaco to the protection of the oceans and includes a display on H.S.H. Prince Albert II’s Antarctic visit as well as a triangular trap invented by H.S.H. Prince Albert I.
