Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Natural Resources Defense Council

On the occasion of a trip made by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince to Mexico, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, as part of its efforts in favor of the protection of the environment, signed on March 7th a Memorandum of Understanding with the Natural Resources Defense Council, an important environmental action organization whose aim is to solve the most pressing current environmental issues.
The Natural Resources Defense Council and the Foundation, conscious of their complementarities in the fields of research, science and environmental protection, wished to define the bases of their collaboration. Through this partnership, these two entities are dedicated to acting jointly by:
- co-supporting projects in their common fields and geographical areas of action
- developing technical, scientific and methodological cooperation
- sharing experiences and producing common tools for capitalization and knowledge development.
This Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Ms Frances Beinecke, President of the Natural Resources Defense Council and H.E. Mr Bernard Fautrier, Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)
Foundedin 1970, NRDC’s purpose is to safeguard the Earth: its people, its plants and animals and the natural systems on which all life depends. NRDC works to restore the integrity of the elements that sustain life - air, land and water - and to defend endangered natural places. It seeks to establish sustainability and good stewardship of the Earth as central ethical imperatives of human society. NRDC affirms the integral place of human beings in the environment. It works to foster the fundamental right of all people to have a voice in decisions that affect their environment. Ultimately, NRDC strives to help create a new way of life for humankind, one that can be sustained indefinitely without fouling or depleting the resources that support all life on Earth.
Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation
The Foundation was created by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince of Monaco in June 2006 and is dedicated to the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development on a global scale. The Foundation’s efforts focus on three main areas: Climate Change and renewable energies, Biodiversity, Water and desertification. The Foundation gives its support to projects in three main geographical zones: the Mediterranean Basin, the Polar Regions, and the least developed countries. The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation supports initiatives by public and private organizations, in the fields of research and studies, technological innovation and socially-aware practices.
