Spotlight on the 2022 Edinburgh Ocean Leaders cohort

Article

The Edinburgh Ocean Leaders (EOL) programme hosted by the University of Edinburgh and supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is designed to accelerate the leadership, creativity and influence of exceptional ocean professionals working together to make a significant positive impact on the health of the World’s oceans.

Each year, the programme supports a group of 6-10 Ocean Leaders from around the world and from various fields such as conservation, law, policy, advocacy, finance, government, education/awareness and research.

The programme includes:

  • mentoring elements,
  • professional development,
  • networking,
  • a joint field project,
  • participation in international ocean-related events, in particular through partnerships with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Monaco Blue Initiative.

In 2021, a new component of the programme was developed called "Edinburgh Ocean Conversations" aimed at providing inspiring examples and exchange with world leaders.
