Students on Ice 2015 Conference

Monaco

On Monday 9th February 2015, as part of the "Students on Ice" programme, the aim of which is to promote Education for Sustainable Development, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Office of Education, Youth and Sport invited Year 12 General Studies pupils to attend a film screening and lecture on regions of the world where the environment is under threat. For the reader's information, as part of the awareness actions aimed at the younger generation, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has supported this initiative since 2010.

This discussion session took place at Monaco's Vocational and Catering School (Lycée Technique et Hôtelier de Monaco), in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

The two winners of the 2014 "Students on Ice" competition presented a report made last August to raise their classmates' awareness of the fragility of the Arctic.

On this occasion, the 2015 competition was launched which will give another two students the opportunity to visit this Polar region for a scientific mission relating to environmental protection.

The adventurer Bertrand Piccard, president, initiator and pilot of Solar Impulse and member of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation’s Scientific and Technical Committee, shared his passion with the students and presented to them his new challenge: the first Round-The-World Solar Flight.
