The Wood Charter rewards the good practices of its signatories

Monaco

On 5 December, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, alongside the Monaco Government, MC2D and IMEDD, welcomed the signatories of the Wood Charter, a component of the "Monaco commits itself against deforestation" initiative, for their annual meeting. The Wood Charter invites Monegasque companies to promote the responsible use of wood and wood products, whether through their purchases or as part of their customer/supplier relationship. Nearly 60 Monegasque companies have already committed themselves to adopting exemplary behaviour by adhering to the charter, the most recent being Monaco Telecom, the Monegasque operator.

The 2019 event, held at Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo, was an opportunity to reward the most committed signatories at a cocktail conference.

As Mr Olivier Wenden, Vice-President of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, reminded us in his welcome speech, our common commitment to the fight against deforestation is more decisive and crucial than ever as deforestation continues to spread, threatening ecosystems and biodiversity across the planet, as evidenced by the recent fires in the Amazon and Siberia. The fight against deforestation remains a major concern for the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which has made it one of its priority missions since its creation.
