The project is located on the island of Palawan in the Philippines, the 3rd largest reef nation after Indonesia and Australia. Located within the Coral Triangle, in the richest reef area in the world, with over 80% of the world's coral species, the Philippine region is also the most endangered centre of endemism (Reef at Risk estimates that 97% of the Philippines' reefs are under threat): the region is classified as the first of 10 reef biodiversity hotspots.

The aim is to restore biodiversity and resources through the implementation of Community marine protected areas, the abandonment of unsustainable fishing practices and the physical restoration of environments and resources.
