MedPAN wishes to support the managers of Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) by providing them with the resources necessary to carry out concrete action in the field, thanks to a Call for Small Projects geared towards Mediterranean MPAs and their partners, for the period 2017-2019. 20 projects at the most is given support.

This call for small projects helps to improve the management of several MPAs within the MedPAN network with a view to the Integrated Management of Coastal Areas and the MPAs’ contribution to the socio-economic context of their territory. The call also helps to strengthen the capacity of MPAs managers to develop sustainable funding for their MPA and to support the sustainable development of economic activities, in particular tourism and fishing, carried out by the MPA’s partner organisations. A cross-sectional component devoted to acknowledgement of climate change in MPA management is also developed. Initiatives conducted by several MPAs and which are replicable is be given priority. The overall objective of the project is therefore to “support the efficient management of MPAs in the Mediterranean thanks to a Call for Small Projects at regional level”.
