The Toliara Reef Complex consists of many rich habitats, including barrier reefs, fringing reefs, grass weed, mangroves and lagoons. The preliminary results of relatively recent studies carried out along the reef show the significance of increasing pressure by local players, in particular the resident populations, faced with existing socio-economic problems on a daily basis…

The goal of the project is to reinforce activities already undertaken since 2005 and to contribute to setting up a marine protected area. Previous initiatives by the WWF in this area have enabled communal vision to be established for all local players and the sustainable use of living marine resources in the Toliara Reef Complex.
