Coverage of the second preparatory session

The second session of the preparatory committee of the United Nations Convention took place from 29 August to 12 September 2016, in New York. It focused on conservation and the sustainable use of marine biodiversity in the zones situated outside the limits of national jurisdiction (PrepCom2 on BBNJ).

The International Institute for Sustainable Development proposes to provide an information service in order to raise awareness within the international community and the media of the outcomes of this policy meeting. This service provides equitable access to information relating to the meeting and also transparency on international negotiations.

This is an opportunity for political and environmental decision-makers for whom information on action taken by governments, NGOs and the United Nations at this international meeting must be reliable for the purpose of implementing rules and standards.
