Integrated and sustainable management of water resources
Migrations & Développement?
The project is taking place in the Siroua Massif, located in the Souss Massa and Drâa Tafilalet Regions of Central Southern Morocco. It is an area vulnerable to the effects of climate change (droughts, floods), which has led to a decrease in available water resources. At the local level, this situation has a strong impact on agricultural activity, accentuates poverty and leads to the rural exodus, particularly of the younger generations. At the regional level, it endangers the agricultural areas located downstream in the plains and dependent on water from the mountains.
This project aims to achieve something that has never been done before in this region: to rely on the participatory development of specific water management rules to implement water management and then to disseminate these innovations.
