Sunlabob has developed a range of rechargeable lanterns powered by solar energy. In each village, an entrepreneur recharges the portable lanterns and distributes them among the various homes in the village in return for a fee.

The system was designed to compete with and substitute the traditional use of kerosene lamps. It creates jobs, generates income and promotes the setting up of micro-enterprise in deprived areas which are not connected to the power grid.
