The Port-Cros National Park (PCPN) has been faced for several years with the challenge of extending its knowledge and heritage management activities to a new territory with a much larger surface area than the old one. Since 2016, the PCPN has been deploying its knowledge efforts in the heart of the park, but also in a land and marine territory comprising 11 communes from La Garde to Ramatuelle. Ces actions de connaissance sont portées par l’Établissement en partenariat avec des instituts de recherche et des associations. In addition, the Port-Cros National Park is the coordinator of the French part of the Pelagos Sanctuary.

In this context, the PCPN must acquire a greater scientific dimension at the very moment when the number of theses defended on the territory, a key indicator of the research dynamic, is decreasing.

The project therefore aims to encourage the dynamisation of fundamental and applied research by supporting doctoral students whose research topics relate to the territory and the knowledge issues of the PCPN.
