Our ocean offers many services to humanity. It provides a livelihood and food security to millions of people, regulates our climate and offers economic opportunities related to leisure activities and the development of tourism. However, extractive industries, pollution and overfishing have had serious repercussions on its ecosystem and placed it at risk.

To address this environmental issue, the University of Edinburgh, with its long experience in education, research and entrepreneurship, is keen to mobilise the younger generations and their innovative ideas.

The Edinburgh Ocean Leaders programme was developed according to this philosophy. It aims to accelerate the scope and influence of some of the most talented and most engaged young professionals who are working on solutions to promote the ocean and society.

As part of this initiative, young leaders from across the globe are being selected and put into contact with recognised experts, exceptional mentors, from various business sectors.
